Doncaster station is 7 miles from the airport and is served by Northern Rail, NXEC, CrossCountry, TransPennine Express, East Midlands Trains and Hull Trains. Doncaster is 1 Hour 35 Mins from London Kings Cross or 20 Mins from Sheffield station (using direct services). Several direct bus services link Doncaster station with the Airport.
In addition, the airport lies alongside the Doncaster to Lincoln railway line, and plans for a station at Finningley to replace that closed in 1961 have been submitted for local planning permission. Doncaster Council are now considering this with a target opening date of 2011.

Birthday celebrations for 3 year old Robin Hood Airport
Staff joined with passengers last night to help celebrate Robin Hood Airport Doncaster Sheffield’s 3rd Birthday. Low fares airline Ryanair were one of the first to operate out of the newly opened airport just three years ago with a flight to Dublin and so joined with the Airport to surprise two lucky passengers to check-in on their evening Dublin flight by presenting them with two complimentary return air tickets.
Mr P Whapham and Ms D Matthews from Crowle, near Scunthorpe have used Robin Hood Airport Doncaster Sheffield on four previous occasions and this time they were travelling to the Irish capital for a well-earned break. At the departure gate the couple also joined their fellow passengers in each receiving a slice of special Airport Birthday cake to celebrate the occasion.
Robin Hood Airport Doncaster Sheffield has handled 2.9 million passengers since opening its doors three years ago and has seen a 13% increase in passengers over the past 12 months. In 2005, the Airport had flights to just 17 destinations, however owners Peel Airports have continued to develop services from the South Yorkshire airport and this summer the region’s passengers will have the choice of flying to 30 different destinations such as Gdansk in Poland, Portugal, Alicante, Barcelona (Girona), Jersey, Dublin and Belfast, to name but a few.
Over the past three years, Peel has invested over £100m to develop the former RAF Finningley into the UK’s newest airport with additional funding through the European Regional Development Fund with support from Renaissance South Yorkshire and the Government Office for Yorkshire and The Humber. This has given millions of the region’s passengers the opportunity to fly from a local, convenient airport and Peel is confident that the Airport will continue to grow.

- Please inform us if passengers have excessive luggage as this can limit numbers on airport runs and sometimes a larger vehicle may be appropriate.
- On rare occasions we incur additional waiting, despite our carefully monitoring of flight arrivals on the internet (perhaps immigration are slow etc.) in this event any waiting over 60 minutes will be charged at 20 UK pounds per hour pro-rata. We re-state though, this is highly unusual. Additional car parking is charged at cost. (See note above).
- Driver will wait in arrivals hall for 90 minutes after plane has landed unless advised otherwise.
